Joyous and Fun Wedding

Most weddings are joyous and meaningful occasions, but the wedding of Alexandra and Joseph that I officiated last weekend was especially so. The setting was at an elegant inn on the shores of Lake Winnipesauke in New Hampshire. At the couple’s request, the ceremony integrated the rituals and beliefs of Christian tradition with non-denominational spirituality, and included the lighting of the Unity Candle, as well as the rather amusing story of how they met. Although it was a formal occasion, with a degree of solemnity, it was also lots of fun and the room was full of laughter – from the guests, the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and the couple themselves. And me too! Who says the minister can’t have some fun too? My wife Helen was also invited, and we both experienced that spirit of joy throughout the weekend, in the rehearsal dinner and the reception as well. The family was so open to us, and we got to know several of them. And what a party. Oh my, did we dance up a storm!
