Last Saturday, Helen and I traveled up to Lake Placid, NY where I officiated at the lively wedding of Lorena and Jafet, a Latino couple. (She’s Columbian and he’s Cuban.) The wedding took place at a secluded property alongside a beautiful pond.
So that all the relatives could understand what was being said, I did the ceremony completely in Spanish, which meant special attention, not just to literally translate the formalities, but to also convey the nuances and poetry about their relationship, and what marriage means to them.
