Casados en el cuerpo, la mente, el corazón y el alma (Married in body, mind, heart, and soul)
Last Saturday, Helen and I traveled up to Lake Placid, NY where I officiated at the lively wedding of Lorena and Jafet, a Latino couple. (She’s Columbian and he’s Cuban.) The wedding took place at a secluded property alongside a beautiful pond.
So that all the relatives could understand what was being said, I did the ceremony completely in Spanish, which meant special attention, not just to literally translate the formalities, but to also convey the nuances and poetry about their relationship, and what marriage means to them. This included the sense that their marriage was a deep and integrated connection of body, mind, heart, and soul.
]The bride and groom were very relaxed, comfortable with each other, and so happy! Their relatives were very warm and hospitable. You could tell what a cohesive family they are. The wedding was a joyous and raucous occasion, full of music, laughter, love, great food, and assorted merriment. The party was surely headed into the wee hours, though we left in mid-evening for the long drive home.
Felicidades, Lorena y Jafet !
