Cozy Wedding in Brattleboro, Vermont
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of officiating the wedding of Albert and Sara, in Brattleboro VT. It was a cozy wedding at the home of a family member. The actual ceremony took place in the living room. It was a simple and love-filled event for the couple and the friends and family, of all ages, who attended.
As I do in most of the weddings I officiate, just before I pronounced the couple husband and wife, I shared a few words directly with their friends and family. I shared with them that they too have taken on a vow, to celebrate the couple’s joy and support them as they strive to live their vows each day. Because we are human and imperfect, we forget, we get mixed up and scared. So it is very unlikely that any couple will live up to their matrimonial vows 100% each day.
And that’s where those people who are most precious in the couple’s lives come in, to hold and nurture them, and help them remember their vows. “In a way”, I told the assembled guests, “You are in this marriage with them.”
Congratulations to Sara and Albert! May your life together be full of love and joy, and maybe you help each other to grow and become your most complete and true selves.
